The Company has identified opportunities to completely revamp and improve its existing data quality and management infrastructure, policies, procedures, reporting and governance with the goals of creating competitive differentiation and improved business performance. The Vice President of Data Quality and Management will have overall business data steward responsibility. This position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

The company is looking to establish, promote and institutionalize the following guiding principles as it relates to data quality and management:

  • Use common business definitions
  • Move data quality checks as far upstream as possible
  • Put data quality checks on critical data elements
  • Understand the quality of the data
  • Execute common business rules once and centralize
  • Ensure that metadata is captured in a central source
  • Identify trusted sources of data
  • Maximize data storage efficiency including disciplined archival and retirement of data
  • Share data when possible
  • Make smart decisions based on quality analytics (i.e. Turn data into knowledge)
  • Business Data Steward Responsibilities:
  • Design a data and reporting environment that aligns with Corporate Strategy
  • Implement the capability to provide real-time reports on Corporate Initiatives, that are effective, user-friendly and accurate
  • Facilitate the use and collection of common business definitions
  • Ensure the proper data quality checks are established for critical data used in critical business functions
  • Identify, prioritize and track data quality issues
  • Provide link between business, operations and technology regarding data
  • Align data activities to targeted projects
  • Drive cultural transformation and provide thought leadership
  • Promote data policies, standards, tools and best practices (i.e. data governance)
  • Partner with Information Technology and other Corporate Stakeholders to validate that the business metadata is correct
  • Choosing the right data repositories, analytical software tools and applications


 Key Result Areas:
  • Develop overall data quality and management strategic plan
  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures
  • Facilitate the completion of common business definitions and data dictionary
  • Coordinate the selection and implementation of data repositories, analytical software tools and applications
  • Reduce data storage levels
  • Reduce the level of redundant and non value added business reports
  • Reduce the number of overall FTE required to manage data and create reports

 Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a data management discipline such as Economics, Statistics, Data Management or Operations Research is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years experience in data quality, data management and analytics
  • Experience with statistical programming and statistical tools
  • Experience in bridging business analysis and technical tools
  • Member of DAMA International (Data Management International) or similar trade group helpful

Summary
