Description
Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of the division-manufacturing plan.
  • Establishes materials schedules and floor schedules to meet the manufacturing plan.
  • Manages inventory planning to support production schedule without kit shortages.
  • Plans requirements for purchasing materials or services, and ensures delivery of materials to production consistent with established schedules.
  • Ensures optimum inventory levels and verifies inventories by overseeing the conduct of physical inventories.
  • Manages variance exposure minimization; creates and monitors action plans to address and resolve variance issues; develops and implements business processes to address long-term issues.
  • Implements and maintains physical distribution procedures, work authorization, dispatching and expediting procedures, and floor scheduling/shop loading procedures.
  • Manages on-time material delivery; provides guidance to direct reports on complex delivery issues.
  • Works with internal customers, manufacturing, engineering, marketing and spares to understand overall requirements.
  • Ensures adequate headcount available to support business needs; ensures effective recruitment, training and retention of key staff.
  • Communicates projected needs to suppliers; manages exceptions affecting plan.
  • Establishes, maintains, publishes and utilizes effective management measurement tools for use within organization.
  • Owns, generates and verifies metrics; provides input regarding metrics under development.
  • Creates and monitors action plans to address and resolve metric issues.
  • Acts as spokesperson for materials organization; represents organization on corporate materials task force teams.
  • Manages department budget, associated costs and resources.
  • Designs new materials initiatives and/or business programs; develops framework for process documentation.
  • Documents revisions to existing and/or business
  • processes in ISO format across divisions.
  • May operate in a Spares environment; responsible for designing spares business processes, through partnership with CPS, to better serve customers and manage DSOs.
  • Job Specific Knowledge
  • Requires understanding of supplier problem sheet process, engineering specification waiver process,
  • product development process, supply chain management, master scheduling, cost avoidance / reduction,negotiation, commodity knowledge, competitive analysis, cost analysis, information systems /e-commerce, and materials management using a world class ERP system.

Qualifications
Skills

  • Strong skills in change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, global business perspective, project management, team skills, and quality. Demonstrated ability in human resources management and leadership. Requires proficiency in Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, product data management, oracle, inventory control, and oracle production control.

Education
BS level degree in manufacturing systems engineering, supply chain management, industrial
distribution, and 10+ years manufacturing experience, including 5+ years supervisory/management experience
and at least 2 years experience in MRP-II, or equivalent.

Preferred: - MBA degree or equivalent
10-12 years experience
CPIM or C.P.M. certification
