Sales Manager, USA

This position is ideal for anyone with prior sales experience in the life sciences industry. The Sales Manager will be reporting to the VP of Sales and Marketing and be responsible for prospecting, qualifying and closing on new sales leads in the US and Canadian territories.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Present BIOBASE databases, software, service capabilities and licensing model over the phone, WebEx and onsite meetings to prospects
  • Research databases, websites and online directories to identify the most appropriate industries (pharmaceuticals, biotech, academics, libraries, hospitals, non-profit institutions) for sales opportunities
  • Follow-up and qualify incoming leads by e-mail and phone and secure new appointments for onsite visits and/or WebEx presentations
  • Drive new business growth by soliciting and networking with key stake holders in the life sciences industry to meet revenue quota
  • Negotiate database/software licensing terms and bring contract to closure
  • Record all sales activities and manage sales pipeline using the SAP/ACT CRM system

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Prior experience selling bioinformatics database/software solutions preferred.  Familiarity with licensing/subscription based business model highly desirable
  • Comfort zone in working independently in a small office environment.  Ability to multitask and handle pressure to meet aggressive sales targets
  • A strong aptitude and desire to learn scientific concepts and follow instructions
  • Self motivated with a sales oriented personality; rolodex of contacts in pharma and academia strongly preferred
