Description
 
Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting AMAT-front-end products. Includes projects related to process optimization at customer facilities, new product introduction: demos, characterization, alpha testing, beta testing and pilot tools in the ramp phase. In addition, application engineers will support in-house customer demonstrations and product penetrations. Also, applications is responsible for generating best known method documents and other training material and transferring product knowledge to customers and field teams. This includes training customers and other apps engineers, handling/driving local apps escalation process, investigating customer technical needs/problems and providing solutions, conducting final acceptance, demonstrating products, and understanding competitive situations, methodology, and performance group analysis. Report technology development and new applications to Marketing. Support pre-sale and post-sale activities. Responsible for characterization new systems and features. This includes designing and conducting experiments, collecting data, publishing results and recommendations in the form of applications notes, best known methods or characterization studies. Qualifications Work experience in semiconductor processing or equipment industry preferred. Team work is critical so having a good balance between technical skills and people skills is a must. Also, work with customers to publish papers at industry symposiums or in technical journals. Work closely with many organizations including engineering, sales and marketing within AMAT and with customer engineers. Some travel (20-50%) is required to support inspection products at customer fabs and demos.

Education
Candidate must have a BS degree in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, ormaterial science.  Having a background in IC processing/Semiconductor equipment is a plus. Must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skill. Candidate must also be self-driven, yet a strong team player. Engineering SW experience a plus: Matlab, image processing.
