Compliance Engineer

As part of the Corporate Compliance Department, this position performs activities necessary to ensure Aruba's compliance with regulatory laws and requirements pertaining to various government or industry bodies.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure hardware and software needed on systems for compliance testing
  • Perform test set up including system(s)-product(s) interconnections, execute in house EMC testing, produce formal test reports for agencies and design teams
  • Work with HW Design Team to identify and resolve compliance related design issues throughout product development and collaborate with HW engineers to solve and implement resolution(s)
  • Work with agencies and 3rd party test laboratories for the purposes of:
  • Support and obtaining testing and evaluation services
  • Obtaining and maintaining product approvals
  • Obtaining interpretations of requirements
  • Remain informed of all changes in various regulatory compliance requirements and proactively inform the design teams of any impending requirements
Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on EMI/EMC/safety compliance testing and related engineering and documentation experience
  • Knowledge of the latest EMI/EMC/safety regulatory test requirements for both the US and the rest of the world
  • Must have experience in a variety of international standards and/or Nationally Recognized Test Labs (NRTLs) and Accredited Labs, including a subset of the following FCC, CISPR, ETSI, Bellcore/Telcordia, etc.
  • Must have experience with environmental standards and regulations, including WEEE, RoHS, and REACH. This should include a thorough understanding of the documentation required to meet these standards.
  • Hands-on test setup assembly skill and familiarity with EMC related test methodologies, and instrumentation are required troubleshooting, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with selection and use of EMC specific test equipment - spectrum analyzers, probes, analysis software, ESD generators,etc.
  • BSEE or equivalent, MSEE a plus
The following experience is a plus:

  • Worked for a certification agency or been personally responsible for obtaining international/domestic certifications for at least 10 products
  • Experience with Intentional Radiator requirements-Unlicensed or Licensed radios devices (including FCC Part 15, IC RSS-xxx and ETSI EN standards)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate key issues and present well-thought-out solutions
  • Familiar with anechoic chamber, compact ranges and knows and models absorbing materials if possible
