Mobile Applications Developer - Android

Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for developing compelling mobile applications for mobile devices based on the Android platform. He/she will work closely with the Project Managers/Solutions Architects and designers to conceptualize and create interactive mobile applications in a fast paced startup environment.

Specific responsibilities include:
Design and develop top of the line mobile applications for the Android and other mobile platforms (iPhone/J2ME)
Create a compelling/world class look for the applications working closely with designers and helping identify and define the UI/graphics needs.
Design efficient, adaptable, and reusable code.
Tuning components for high performance and scalability using techniques such as caching, code optimization, and efficient memory management.
Organize input and feedback from multiple stakeholders to improve usability and functionality.

Qualifications

Mandatory

• BTech/CS/MCA degree from a premiere institution with 1-2 years of software product development experience.
• 1+ years developing cutting edge mobile Android and/or J2ME applications.
• Strong object oriented design and development experience with Java and C++. Knowledge of Objective C and iPhone development is a major plus.
• Hands on experience in J2ME and the Android SDK.
• Well versed with RDBMS with hands on experience in one of Oracle or MySQL.
• Experience with XML/JSON and data manipulation/extraction using parsers.
• Strong debugging and trouble-shooting skills and prior experience with performance measurement tools.
• Experience in full life cycle software development including design, development, production, testing, roll out, maintenance and support.
• Ability to work independently in a fast paced startup environment with dynamically changing requirements.
• Outstanding communication and documentation skills, detail oriented and go-getting attitude.

Desirable

• Knowledge of information search retrieval, index creation and algorithms is strongly desired
• Demonstrated knowledge with wireless and standard internet protocols and standards.
• Practical product experience with one of more graphics libraries (Open GL) and animation effects is a big plus.
• UI and visual conceptualization experience – being able to define UI needs is a major plus.
• Experience in Java, J2EE, web programming using HTML, CSS and Javascript and knowledge of Webservices is a big plus.
