ROLE - Individual Contributor (System Infrastructure/Forwarding/ Diagnostic/L2/ L3/ Multicast Protocol Development)

JOB LOCATION - Chennai

MODE OF PLACEMENT - Permanent

EXPERIENCE - 5 to 15 yrs

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - 
* Strong coding skills in C with emphasis on writing scalable code.
* Strong Networking domain experience
* Unix (or) Linux (or) VXworks (or) NetBSD.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

1. System Infrastructure

* Must have 5 to 12 years of experience in network software development with 4+ years on a chassis based router/switch
* Must have very Strong C coding skills, with emphasis on writing scalable code.
* Must have strong debugging and trouble shooting skills
* Must have proven track record of delivering innovative design solutions
* Must have familiarity with UNIX/Linux architecture
* Must have prior experience with multi-threaded design
* Must have exposure to kernel and/or device driver programming
* Must have prior experience in system architecture and design for networking products such as routers or switches meeting high availability and serviceability requirements 
* Must have sound knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet networking technologies
* Prior experience with Hitless software upgrade design is desirable

2. L2 Protocol Development 
* Experience in developing software for routers/switches. 
* Familiarity with Layer 2 networking technologies (IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, 802.1D bridging, 802.1Q VLAN and related technologies) is desirable 
* Prior development experience with Spanning Tree Protocols (STP, MSTP, RSTP, PVST)/Link Aggregation (LACP)/ 802.1x is desirable 
* Experience with Data Center Bridging, Virtual Switching and related standards is a plus 
* Experience working with Broadcom/Dune network processors is a strong plus 
* Strong C coding skills, with emphasis on writing scalable code. 
* Should have worked on Operating Systems such as NetBSD/Linux /Vxworks/Unix. 


3. L3 Protocol Development 
* Experience developing software for networking products. 
* Must have thorough understanding of IP routing protocols and concepts involving RIP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP 
* Must have prior software development or maintenance experience with OSPF/IS-IS 
* Strong coding skills in C with emphasis on writing scalable code 
* Must have strong debugging and troubleshooting skills 
* Should have worked on Operating Systems such as NetBSD/Linux /Vxworks/unix 

4. Multicast - Protocol Development 
* Experience developing software for networking products 
* Must have software development experience in any of the Multicast family protocols like PIM, PIM-DM, PIM-SM, DVRMP, IGMP Snooping etc 
* Strong coding skills in C with emphasis on writing scalable code 
* Should have worked on Operating Systems such as NetBSD/Linux /Vxworks/Unix




5. Forwarding
* Experience in embedded development.


* Proficiency in programming in C and BSD/Linux internals is a must.
* Comprehensive understanding of networking technologies at data link layer (IEEE 802.3 Ethernet switching, 802.1D bridging, 802.1Q VLAN and related technologies.) is required
* Good experience with layer 3 IP routing and related technologies is required
* Exposure to/prior experience with converged Ethernet standards such as DCB and standards for carrying Fiber Channel over IP/Ethernet networks is mandatory.
* Experience in design and development of networking software features dealing with specialized ASICs/network processors (such as from Broadcom, Fulcrum, Marvel etc.,) for high-performance packet forwarding systems is mandatory
* Experience with QOS features like WFQ, Rate Limiting, Rate Policing, DSCP Marking, DCB, Hierarchical scheduling is mandatory
